Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. After her parents' divorce the actress left Worthington, Ohio to live in Los Angeles. Though she struggled financially, her 2001 debut was acting as Rachel's Room's main character. In the following year, she was awarded a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford's character in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was nominated for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace has worked together with Tom Welling on The Fog in the year 2005, was looking to go into film. Grace has been as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 and in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised the role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role of Shannon in two episodes of Lost including the series finale. She also appeared in the sixth series of Californication. She portrays Faith as a groupie, and also her muse to the stars who captures the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a part of the Gyllenhaal Family she's the daughter and older sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began in the teen years with minor roles in several of his films. She also appeared alongside her brother in the cult favorite Donnie Darko (2001). The year 2002 saw her was featured as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her leading performances in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in the Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films like World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). For her performance as a single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee and in the Big Bang and Hysteria. Other roles she has played include the role of a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) and the title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
